So I stumbled across two piles of ectoplasm and crushed beer cans in the garage...

...and after scraping off the waste and sludge and then hosing down the contents, I found these:

Does anyone know what they are used for?  They look foreign, but yet intriguing...

The dealer picked up our bikes on March 3. They said they'd pull 'em apart and put together a punch list and quote in a week or so. It's now March 20 and I haven't heard a peep. Might have to drive down there and see what's going on...

On a possibly related note, does anyone have any experience with 2Topia Cycles?

Not that anyone cares, but the dealer is making noises like KK's bike might, might be done next week.

Then we can bring it home and park it for another ten years.

No way man. You'd park it for at least 12 after it runs again. What other attention does it need at that point? Think big!

They have "completed" the fuel pump recall on my bike two times already and she is there right now getting done the third time. Oh did i mention it was suppose to be done two weeks ago? Did i also mention that when I called the first time asking for an update (a week after they originally said it would be done) the service writer asked if I had already dropped my bike off? Took them about an hour to find it and the let me know that it hadn't been put into rotation yet.

Have you ever tried 2Topia? I stopped by there a few weekends ago and talked to the owner. I walked away impressed, and questioning my decision to bring the bikes to the dealer.

I haven't heard of them before this thread. I do most everything on the bike myself but something's are out of my wheelhouse.

Where are they located?

Just outside downtown in a neat old mini-warehouse thing. And he has a ton of cool bikes there to look at.

His current pet project was a mid-80s Interceptor 500 that he was building up with upside-down forks and modern suspension and brakes. I was drooling.

Just got a call from the dealer.  The bikes aren't ready yet, but they did update the repair quotes:

KK's F650CS: $1900
My R1100S: $3400

Cheaper than a new one!

Sure, but at least then you'd have a new one and not a nineteen-year-old junker with 30,000 miles.   ;)

Weak!  You need to pump those numbers up.

Yeah, I know.  And I will if:

  1. My bike is ever done.
  2. I can afford to pick it up.
  3. Coronavirus.

I'm thinking #3 is going to be the problem.
