I am not the kind of rider that stops and takes pictures. I just blow by all the scenery because most of it I have seen before and I’m usually biting off more than I can chew in terms of miles. But today I’ll give a ride report.

Not sure who/if anyone is familiar the gravel in the Brown Mtn/Wilson Creek area but basically it’s between 181 and 321. There used to be a town there but it got washed away in 1940. There are some pretty cool old remains still there. So if you have questions let me know.

There was no chance of rain……..

Trailered up to Lenoir. Took 90 to Colletsville and banged a left. Maple Sally back to 90. It took a bit to get used to the DRZs new set up, loving it now though! Rode the gravel along Wilson’s Creek for a bit. Noticed huge black clouds moving from Blowing Rock are towards me. Meh whatever on the dirt bike so headed towards the top of 181 via Pineola Rd. Nice and sunny there. Went to Louise’s Restaurant and the clouds are moving my way. Got lunch and sat outside with the DRZ in the parking lot. Talked to a couple on a beemer and the chanced leaving home to Morganton. I left to head back to the top of 181 to get gas. It was raining hard and cold but nice to cool off. Got to the gas station. There is the couple on the beemer, they didn’t go far! Also a gaggle of other ADVers there. They said it was “hailing like hale” haha. Anyway went the long way back up towards Grag and then 90 back. Nice ride and the gravel needed some water to pack in.

Last pic is of Blowing Rock looking up. Can barely see the big money homes at the top of the ridge!

Wow, those are some great waterfalls and vistas! How extreme were the trails? Could our 390 and 650 handle them?

Absolutely! Nothing different than Love Valley. Just gravel. But a hell of a lot more of it and elevation change, maybe washed a bit more.

You guys are so stealthy!

May get out a bit tomorrow, or I may go to a car show, before the rain. Anyone? Bueller?

We're having a contractor come out to do some work in our attic today so we are not riding.

What Brad heard, "the sushi kicked in..."

Good luck with the contractor!

Contractor texted me fifteen minutes after he was supposed to be here to cancel for the second time. I bet no one saw that coming!

I'm still 222 pounds so the sushi has not kicked in yet.
